From July 11 to 12, Ewha and Yale held the first Ewha-Yale Conference: Korean Literature, Art, and Film from 1910 to 1945, located at B146 of ECC.

This conference was arranged to expand and promote academic exchange in the field of Korean and East Asian studies, as well as to discuss Korean culture and literature during the period of Japanese occupation. Notably, it was the first academic event related to Korean studies hosted by Yale in collaboration with a Korean university.

The conference was chaired by Professor Emeritus John Treat of Yale, with the welcoming address given by President Kim Sun-Uk of Ewha, followed by opening remarks delivered by Daniel Botsman, Professor of History and Chairperson of the Council on East Asian Studies at Yale, and Song Ki-Jeong, Director of Ewha Institute for the Humanities.

Over the two days, the conference consisted of four sessions with four panels on a number of different subjects and three keynote addresses delivered by Prof. Setsuko Hatano at University of Niigata Prefecture, Prof. Kim Young-hoon at Ewha Womans University, and Prof. John Treat at Yale University.

Ewha has sought various ways to strengthen collaborations with prominent universities worldwide. Furthermore, Ewha seeks to capitalize on venues of academic discussions such as this conference to open new prospects for academic exchange with outstanding universities across the world, thereby establishing a higher standard of quality for such exchanges as well as a greater number of opportunities.
