The 9th Ewha Global Empowerment Program (EGEP) Hosted Orientation for “Transnational Women’s Solidarity to Make Difference”

Orientation for the 9th Ewha Global Empowerment Program (EGEP), a female talent training course for women activists from Asian and African countries in non-governmental and public sectors, was held at Ewha Campus Complex (ECC) on January 6 (Wed.).
EGEP is a two week short term education program established by Ewha in 2012 to foster non-governmental women activists, and 174 trainees from 39 countries have completed this program so far. The 9th EGEP is to be attended by 16 women activists selected from 14 countries.

In the orientation where all the participants, instructors, and operating staff of the 9th EGEP gathered together for the first time, Professor Chang Pilwha (Department of Women’s Studies), Director of Asian Center for Women’s Studies, expressed gratitude and congratulations to participants saying, “Adding to the history of EGEP that has been built by participants from various institutions for women or civil activity groups, today’s program will serve as an opportunity to strengthen the program further.”
The 9th EGEP is scheduled to run until January 18 (Mon.), and the participants will attend a variety of educational activities, including workshops, Wednesday Demonstration to solve the Japanese military sex slave victim issue, seminars, field study, and action plans.
