The 11th Round of EGEP Was Held as Feminists from Asia and Africa Gathered in Ewha

The 11th round of Ewha Global Empowerment Program (EGEP), an educational program for women from Asian and African countries in non-governmental and public sectors, started on Sunday, January 8.
EGEP aims to theoretically and practically empower female talents in the non-government and public interest sectors of Asia and Africa, internationally improve woman’s right by education, and contribute to the development of global community. It has turned out 215 people with diploma from 42 countries so far, and 19 participants from 15 Asian countries two African countries are now attending a two-week program of the 11th EGEP.
Pamela Philipose, public editor, and Lee mikyeong, Chairperson of Korea Sexual Violence Relief Center, gave a lecture and held a discussion on the topic of “New Challenges of Feminisms for Anti-GBV Transnational Activism” in an open seminar on Tuesday, January 10.
After the seminar, the participants joined action plan activities, workshops, lectures, group talks and the 1266th weekly protest rally held every Wednesday to solve the issue of Korean comfort women for the Japanese army. They also tried to find ways to end sexual discrimination and violence against women and share how to practice them in the field through these activities.
