Professor Lee Junseong of the Department of Architecture and Urban Systems Engineering received the Engineering Education Innovation Merit Award at the “2025 Engineering Festival,” held on November 26 as part of the “2025 Engineering Education Innovation Merit Awards.” The Engineering Education Innovation Merit Award is presented to individuals who have made significant contributions to enhancing the quality and advancing the innovation of engineering education in Korea, recognizing achievements in curriculum improvement, industry–academia collaboration, and the innovation of learning environments.
Professor Lee has led a wide range of innovations in engineering education while serving as Program Director for Engineering Accreditation (Department Chair), Vice Dean of the College of Engineering, Director of THE Talent Education Center, and Dean of Research and Industry-Academic Cooperation. In particular, he established a full-cycle industry–academia cooperation model that connects theory, practice, and commercialization within engineering education; strengthened entrepreneurial and global competitiveness opportunities for young and women engineering students; and advanced the development and dissemination of convergence models integrating engineering education and entrepreneurship education, thereby contributing greatly to enhancing national innovation capacity.
He also spearheaded the establishment of the engineering education accreditation system and educational innovation, laying the foundation for advancing engineering education through leadership in the Creative Convergence Engineering Talent Cultivation Support Project and the Women Engineering Talent Development Project. In addition, his contributions to promoting technology commercialization and laboratory-based entrepreneurship—through the planning and support of initiatives such as the Lab-Based Entrepreneurship Leading University Project and the Public Technology-Based Market-Linked Startup Exploration Support Project—were highly recognized. These accomplishments in engineering education innovation and his contributions to strengthening education, research, and entrepreneurship capacities led to his receiving this merit award.
