60 Promising AI and Tech/Idea-Based Startup Teams Selected – Notable Participation by Student and Startups by faculty
The Campus Town Project Group at Ewha Womans University (headed by Director Jung-Soo Park) successfully finished the 2025 Ewha Life Tech Startup Competition and the orientation program Kickoff (Start-up Booster) this March. These events were held to select tenant companies for the Campus Town program.
The startup competition was divided into two categories: Life Style Tech (which includes new technologies such as AI, big data, IT, and content) and Life Value Tech (technologies that deal with social issues such as bio/health, environment, and climate). A total of 60 promising startups were discovered, with 21 teams in the AI and big data sector, making it the most represented field and emphasizing the strength of technology-based entrepreneurship.
This year, there was active participation from members of the Ewha community, including students and faculty. Notably, seven startups founded by Ewha faculty members (including one pre-startup team) were selected as final tenant companies, demonstrating the university’s success in supporting internal entrepreneurship.
Representative examples include:
- BX Co., Ltd. (Prof. Jang-Hwan Choi, Department of AI)
- EcoGear Co., Ltd. (Prof. Ji-Hoon Park)
- AI.M Co., Ltd. (Prof. Ye-Rim Choi, Department of Data Science)
- ShooFab Co., Ltd. (Prof. Jin-Kyu Lee, Department of Food Science and Biotechnology)
- SIOL Solution (Prof. Joon-Sung Lee, Department of Architectural Engineering)
- Core Trust Link (Prof. Sang-Mi Chae, School of Business)
- AURA (Prof. Jin-Woo Kim, College of Medicine)
These companies stood out for translating academic research from various disciplines into entrepreneurial ventures.
Ewha-affiliated participants also shined among the award-winning companies. The Grand Prize went to Eple, a startup founded by an Ewha alumna. The Excellence Award was received by BX Co., Ltd., a faculty startup, and the Merit Award went to AURA, a pre-startup by Prof. Jin-Woo Kim, showcasing the strength of Ewha’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Among the 60 selected startups, 24 companies (40%) were founded by Ewha students, graduates, or faculty, underscoring the university's vibrant internal startup environment.
During the Kickoff event, tenant companies were introduced to the Campus Town operations, startup funding and agreement procedures, and were also provided with a lecture on attracting investment and a networking program among tenant companies—creating a platform for practical exchange and collaboration.
The Ewha Campus Town Project Group plans to offer selected startups a variety of support programs, including office space, startup activity funds, one-on-one mentoring, market validation, and investment connections. The initiative aims to lead the way in building a sustainable startup ecosystem rooted in the university’s creativity and research excellence.
