Only five years after being elevated to a comprehensive university, Ewha established Korea’s first graduate school for women in March 1950, solidifying its status as a true comprehensive university. Despite the hardships of war, Ewha continued its passion for academics and research, producing Korea’s first female master's degree holders in March 1954. On February 25, 1963, at the graduation ceremony, Ewha awarded the first and second Doctor of Medicine degrees in Korea’s history to Dr. Ban Heon-kyung and Dr. Kim Hye-chang, furthering its mission of nurturing top female leaders.
