On February 22nd (Friday) at 10am, Ewha held an Entrance Ceremony to welcome 3,730 new students to the university.

During the ceremony, President Sun-Uk Kim said "to become a part of Ewha community is to join a history that has paved the way for gender equality and women's liberation in Korean society for 127 years. It also means that you have a permanent place in the Ewha Alumni Network around the world. Finally, it means that you will embody the value and the reputable name of 'Ewha' as part of your identity."

President Kim advised each freshwoman "to become a person who makes responsible decisions by herself; who practices 'carpe-diem', living every moment to the fullest; and who learns the virtues of a leader who lives with and works for the community." She also promised the parents and families that "Ewha will do its best for your daughters to become mature and confident members of society, which is much needed by our current era and society."

The speech was followed by a performance from the male faculty members' choir, 'Snow White and Brothers(백설공주와 오빠들)'. The choir performed 'Ewha Style', an adaptation of Korean singer Psy's Gangnam Style, to the delight of students.

After the ceremony, the newly matriculated students attended a 'Welcome to Ewha' orientation prepared by the Student Service Center. 'Wecome to Ewha' is modeled in the style of a television talk show, and is run by current students since its launch in 2011. This year, the Master of Ceremonies was Ms. Eun-young Park (class of 2005, Department of Dance), an anchor of KBS news. Ms. Na Seung-Yeon (class of 1995, French Language and Literature), Spokesperson for the PyeongChang’s 2018 Winter Olympic Bid, came as a special guest and advised freshwomen on various aspects of university life.
