EWHA WOMANS UNIVERSITY

Ji Hyun Park Associate Professor

Professor Jihyun Park is an associate professor of the Department of Architecture, College of Engineering at Ewha Womans University, and serves as the Vice Director of the Ewha Global Institute for Sustainable Partnership and Empowerment(EGISE). She is an ESG-driven expert in healthy buildings, sustainable cities, eco-friendly design, indoor environmental analysis, and building performance evaluation. She currently leads the interdisciplinary research group Humans, Environment and Architecture Lab (HEAL: to HEAL our planet), where she advances practice-oriented research, education, and social impact initiatives that integrate Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) values.

She received her B.Arch and M.Arch degrees from Ewha Womans University and her Ph.D. in Building Performance and Diagnostics from Carnegie Mellon University.

She has held academic appointments at the Department of Built Environment, Sheffield Hallam University (UK), and the Department of Architecture, Carnegie Mellon University (USA). She has led and participated in more than 30 international projects on indoor environmental quality, energy management, and public building performance evaluation in collaboration with major U.S. federal agencies (General Services Administration, Department of Energy, and Department of Defense) as well as leading institutions and companies in the United States, Canada, France, and the United Kingdom.

Prior to academia, she served as a team leader at Gansam Architects & Partners, contributing to over 40 architectural projects and translating sustainability and public-value strategies into real-world design and operations.

She is a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC) and holds LEED AP and WELL AP credentials. She has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers, including SCI(E)-indexed journals, and holds four patents.

In recognition of her research and professional impact, she was selected as an Outstanding Research Faculty Member at Ewha Womans University in 2025 and received the IWBI Rising Star Award in February 2026
