Last July 6th to 8th, the Korea Computer Graphics Society held their annual conference. Eun-jeong Lim(Computer Engineering, 17) and Ji-yoon Park(Computer Engineering, 18) won the Excellent Paper Award for their paper titled <TSP Pen-art utilizing Mobile Manipulator Robot>. The team was advised by Ms. Da-eun Song from the integrative program and Professor Young-joon Kim. KCGS is the largest computer graphics society in Korea with more than 900 members, and has been praised by the nation's top computer graphics researchers for its proposed research during the conference.

The proposed study is a system in which mobile robots automatically draw pen art, in which the underlying principle changes the input image into a pointillization form of a 4-degree printing method and converts it as a classic TSP to complete the picture in a single-shot form. Using this system, robots can implement TSP pen art that requires extremely complex and wide canvas originally. In particular, the study requires an interdisciplinary academic approach such as art, computer engineering, and robotics. The research is currently being conducted as a creative challenge course to support students' autonomous research challenges at the Ewha ITRC center.
