PACST Appoints Professor Sun Choi as Chairman of the Professional Committee of the Deliberative Council

Professor Sun Choi of the College of Pharmacy has been appointed as the chairman of the Life and Medical Professional Committee of the Deliberative Council of the Presidential Advisory Council on Science and Technology(PACST). She will serve for two years from January 2021 to the end of December 2022.
The PACST is the highest deliberative body for science and technology policies based on the Presidential Advisory Council on Science and Technology Act, chaired by the president. It consists of an advisory council serving as a presidential advisor and a deliberative council deliberating on policies and budgets. Under the management committee of the deliberation council, it has seven committees professionalized in technologies, including public and space science, energy and environment, ICT convergence, machinery and materials, life and medical services, basic infrastructure, and military defense.
Professor Choi will be reviewing related agendas regarding science, technology, and research and development(R&D) submitted to the PACST, and arrange governmental investment strategies for each technology. The Life and Medical Professional Committee consists of ‘life, health, and medical’ sector, and ‘agriculture, fisheries, and food’ sector. Experts from each field participate as professional civilian or government members.
Professor Choi is currently serving as △ Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Chemical Division Society △ Director of the Global AI Pharmaceutical Development Research Center △ Civilian member of the Korea Research Foundation △ Vice Chairman of the Korea BioInformation Society. Moreover, she is actively conducting research and educating students as an Ewha Pharmacy Fellow.
