Professor Woo-Jae Kim, from the Chemical Engineering and Materials Department, won the Ministerial Commendation for Science Veterans at the ‘Science, Information and Communication Day Commemoration’ held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza on April 21(Wednesday).
In commemoration of the 66th ‘Information and Communication Day(April 22nd)’, the four government organizations including Ministry of Information and Communications Technology(ICT), Korea Communications Commission, the Korea Federation of ICT Organizations, and the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies(KOFST) gathered together. At the commemoration ceremony, 151 Veterans who contributed to the development and research of Korea’s science technology received government awards.
In recognition of his contributions to Social Problem-Solving Science Technology, Professor Kim received the Minister's Award for Science Veterans by Kiyoung Choi, the Minister of ICT. Professor Kim’s contributions include Development of Eco-friendly Hydrogen Energy Production Technology and Development of Energy Recycling Technology Using Plastic Waste.
Professor Woo-Jae Kim, who gained his B.A. from Seoul National University and obtained a doctorate from the SNU graduate school, served as a postdoctoral researcher at UIUC and MIT, and has been serving as an associate professor of the Chemical Engineering and Materials at ElTEC College of Engineering since 2018.
Professor Kim has made outstanding achievements in metal and semiconductor carbon nanotube manufacturing. His major research fields include Development of Eco-friendly-hydrogen-producing Biomass Catalysts and Bio-nano Medical Materials, Sensors, High-energy Materials, and Hybrid-energy Materials of Next Generation based on Carbon Nanomaterials.
