Professor Shin-hwa Park receives Distinguished Choral Alumnus Award from the University of Colorado School of Music

Professor Shin-hwa Park, Department of Voice    |    University of Colorado Distinguised Choral Alumnus Awards Online


Professor Shin-hwa Park(College of Music, Department of Voice had received the 2021 CU Distinguished Choral Alumnus Award from the School of Music, University of Colorado, Boulder. This award is given to the one outstanding alumni conductor for the recognition of their credits. Originally the award was held at the ACDA National Conference biannually. This year, the awards ceremony was held contact-freely through Zoom as the conference was also held online on March 18-20 due to the COVID 19 pandemic. 


After receiving his Doctoral degree of Musical Arts at the University of Colorado, School of Music, Professor Shin-hwa Park came back to Korea to conduct the Ansan   City Choir in 1995. He was invited to the U.S. ACDA National Conference twice to perform successfully, and was also invited to perform at the World Symposium on Choral Music held by the International Federation for Choral Music(IFCM) for three times.


Moreover, when conducting Ewha Chamber Choir, he was invited to perform at the International Choral Festival of Missoula, Montana U.S. for three times. Likewise, he has been raising the honor of Ewha through several U.S. tour performances and Choral music festivals. Not to mention his service as Chairman of the Korea Choir Conductors’ Association and Chairman of the Korea Choir Federation, Dr. Park’s contribution to music was highly appreciated by the Award Committee. 


Professor Park has been rewarded with the Grand Prize at the 4th Seoul Arts Center Arts Awards in 2018 by leading Ansan City Choir. Last year, he also won the “Music Art Award” at the 4th Korea Christian Arts Awards in recognition of his contribution to the Christianity by promoting the value of Christian culture through music.
