2023 Ewha-Harvard Summer School Program
Call for Applicants


EWHA GSIS is inviting undergraduate students to participate in the 2023 Ewha-Harvard Summer School Program, jointly organized by the Graduate School of International Studies at Ewha Womans University and Harvard Summer School. Students from Ewha Womans University and other universities that are credit exchange colleges can participate in this program. The 2023 program will be taught by Professor John Park, a political science expert at Harvard University, with the theme of "Thinking Out of the Black Box - Exploring New Insights into North Korea." Students from participating universities will together take classes and explore places related to the class.

■ Date and Time: March 23rd (Thur), 2023  5 PM~6 PM

■ Venue: Room 903(Room change), International Education Building, Ewha Womans University  ZOOM meeting (Link will be sent to RSVPed students only.

▶ Program period : 2023.06.25 (Mon) - 08.19 (Sat), Stay in campus dormitory.
                           (Korean language program(Harvard students only: 6.25~7.19)
                            *Students from domestic (Korea) universities will join the program from 7.20

▶ Program
Lecture on "Thinking Out of the Black Box - Exploring New Insights into North Korea" by Professor John Park of Harvard University. In addition to lectures, various activities such as field trips, an overnight excursion (2 nights and 3 days), watching and discussing movies, and talking with related experts will be held. 

Students will be selected through a process that includes the application, a document screening and an interview, all of which must be completed in English.  This program is opened as a liberal arts course (3 credits, included in credits for graduation) for the summer semester at Ewha. 

Students who successfully completed the program will be given certificates from the Harvard Summer School and Ewha Womans University's Graduate School of International Studies.


▶ Eligibility : Undergraduate students who are interested in the program can apply for the program (except those who are expected to graduate in August 2023). Male students are also eligible.

※ Credit Exchange Universities: Korea University, Sogang University, Seoul National University, Sungkyunkwan University, Sookmyung Women's University, Seoul Metropolitan University, Yonsei University, Pohang University of Science and Technology, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

  2. Please refer to the attached application form for the topic of the English essay and submit it as a new document file.
  3. Deadline: April 7, 2023 (Fri) by 5 p.m. (late submissions will not be accepted) by E-mail (hesp@ewha.ac.kr)

▶ Program Fee: Summer Semester 3 Credit Tuition + Dormitory fee + Other (TBA)

- English interview and announcement of successful candidates: Individual contact on the interview date after document evaluation
