김재상 교수의 연구 목표는 중추신경계 발생과 폐암의 발병에 관련된 유전자의 기능을 밝히는 것이다. 미국 MIT 대학원에서 박사학위를 받았다. 지금까지 약 50편의 논문을 SCI급 국제학술지에 발표했다.
