Professor Soosung Kang, Sun Choi
Professor Soosung Kang and Sun Choi from Ewha College of Pharmacy won the “5th Cheon Mun-U Award for Medicinal Chemistry” presented by The Pharmaceutical Society of Korea, Division of Medicinal Chemistry. This award is given to researchers who have remarkably contributed to the development of the society by publishing excellent research results in medicinal chemistry in the previous year. The award ceremony was held at the 18th Pharmaceutical Society of Korea workshop at Lotte Resort Buyeo on June 22nd (Wed).
Professor Kang is developing new drugs such as treatments for degenerative diseases in the elderly and anti-fibrotic and anticancer drugs based on computational chemistry and medicinal chemistry. He is actively conducting research on the development of new drugs that design selective inhibitors in paralog or homolog with targeted protein 3D structure-based molecular modeling, and efficiently select candidate substance, synthesize them, and confirm medicinal effect by using big data/AI-based medicinal effects/ADMET prediction system.
Professor Sun Choi is actively conducting multidisciplinary high-tech convergence studies such as innovative research that introduces biophysical methods using molecular modeling into the field of medicine and pharmacy, three-dimensional structure and dynamics of targeted protein, multi-scale simulation, and drug design using big data and artificial intelligence (AI).
