Professor Sojung Park, professor of Art Therapy Education at the Graduate School of Education, and three current Ph.D. students (Hyun-jung Lee, Seung-eun Kim, and Yu-ri Kim) recently wrote a paper which was selected as the leading paper of the latest Volume(Vol. 38[2]) of Journal of the American Art Therapy Association(AATA). Art Therapy is a journal published by the AATA, the one and only American art therapy organization and the largest international art therapy member organization with about 5,000 art therapists.

Art Therapy selects important articles in each volume as representative paper, and provides readers with free opportunities to read them. Those representative papers are the ones that promote important practices of art therapy, theoretical framework, and understanding of the group of journalists. Professor Park’s Team’s paper, Traditional Korean Art Materials as Therapeutic Media: Multicultural Expansion Through Materials in Art Therapy, is meaningful in that it introduces healing and therapeutic aspects of Korean traditional media from philosophical and aesthetic evidence to therapeutic application.

The co-authors started the study after they participated in the 2018 Summer Vacation Professor-led Overseas Learning Program of Ewha, led by Professor Park. After graduation, they enrolled in the Ph.D. course of Convergence Art Therapy at the Graduate School. The three co-authors said, "we got to experience international art therapy and look back on domestic art therapy studies through the 2018 program back in the master's degree course." They added that, "we are happy that the long-awaited journal publication finally paid off and the nomination became a fresh motivation to our research."

The paper is open to everyone for free until September through the URL below. Download is also available.
