Ewha College of Medicine faculty member Dr. Moon Chang-mo was appointed as fellow member of the 2021 Young Ewha Fellowship. The Young Ewha Fellowship encourages young professors to conduct research activities and studies. These fellows will be financially supported with research incentives, for achieving outstanding research results such as publishing a number of   A level papers for international journals over the past five years.

Professor Moon, who has been working as Gastroenterologist at Ewha Woman’s University Mokdong Hospital since last March 2014, has published more than 10 international A level papers in the last 5 years. In addition, he had applied for 13 domestic patents. Professor Moon also received several awards both in Korea and worldwide,  including Ferring Award and more by the Korean Association for the Study of Intestinal Diseases, and Presentation Award from the United European Gastroenterology. He is currently doing his best on treating patients and studies, specializing in colon diseases(colonial polyps - colorectal cancer, inflammatory growth disease, and functional growth disease) and treatment endoscopes.

In particular, Professor Moon is actively conducting research on treating colorectal cancer and inflammatory growth diseases by revealing ways to suppress anti-cancer drug resistance and metastasis of cancer cells, through analysis of colorectal cancer stem cells and exosomes.

“I will take steps forward until finding a ‘new path’ that can help and give hope to patients who are greatly suffering with digestive diseases,” said Professor Moon, expressing his gratitude for the selection of the Young Ewha Fellowship.
