A grand prize winning at the 2020 Public Big Data Analysis Contest’ held by the Ministry of Security and Public Administ

At the ‘2020 Public Big Data Analysis Contest' held by the Ministry of Security and Public Administration on December 10, the team 'DEVIL (Data Quality Vision In Literacy),' consisting of students and graduates from Ewha, won the grand prize.
The Ministry of Security and Public Administration held a public contest for the public and public officials from September 21 to October 30 under the theme 'Leading the Digital New Deal with Big Data analysis,' as the 'Act on the Revitalization of Data-Based Administration' went into effect since December. In this contest, out of 165 teams, 20 teams were selected after the document screening and the online evaluation. The outstanding outcomes of the competition can be used for making future policies.
Under the theme of 'Digital learning centers for digital inclusiveness,' the members of the team DEVIL - Dayoung Kim (the Department of Statistics), Hyejung Seo (the Department of Economics), Minji Seok (the Department of Physics), Gahwan Yoo (the Department of Sociology), and Chiyoung Lee (the Division of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering) - analyzed digitally excluded people such as the people living in rural areas, the elderly, and multicultural families. Based on this, they came up with a solution for making the best use of digital learning centers.
