Professor Eun-Kyung Suh is a member of the Department of Life Sciences studying female germ cells and affiliated with Scranton College.  She did her undergraduate studies at Wellesley College double majoring in Biochemistry and French, her Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the Cornell University Weill Graduate School of Medical Sciences in partnership with Sloan-Kettering Institute and her Post-Doc training in the Department of Cell Biology at Harvard Medical School.  Prof. Suh’s early formative years and young adult life for 30 years were spent in the United States.  She takes to Korean students and unique educational history.  Her current research interests include exploring the molecular mechanisms of particularly long-term genome stability maintenance in female germ cells in the hopes of applying this understanding to developing better strategies of treating cancer cells that are prone to losing genomic stability.  Also, this research aims to help cancer patients who receive DNA-damaging chemotherapy or radiation treatment in maintaining fertility after cancer treatment.   Her work also includes finding new genes that drive germ cell development.
