Brendan M. Howe 교수

국제학과 /국제학전공

Brendan Howe 교수는 국제대학원 국제학과 소속 교수로 인간안보 분야의 권위자이다. 영국 출신 학자로써 Oxford 대학교에서 근대사 학사와 석사를, Kent 대학교에서 국제분쟁분석학 석사를, 그리고 Trinity 대학교에서 정치학 박사학위를 받았다. 2001년 국제대학원에 합류했으며 국제안보와 국제관계학 수업을 담당하고 있다. 국제대학원에 합류하기 전에는 베이징 외국어대학과 말레이시아 사라왁 대학교에서 방문학자와 강사로 활동했다. 안식년에는 한국 국방대학교와 시드니대학교 (2007-208) 그리고 베를린 자유대학교(2014-2015)에서 연구활동을 펼쳤으며, 인간안보, 분쟁 후 개발, 인도적 간섭 분야 등에서 총 70여편이 넘는 서적과 논문을 출판했다. 대표적인 서적으로 『Post-Conflict Development in East Asia』(Ashgate 출판, 2014), 『The Protection and Promotion of Human Security in East Asia』(Palgrave 출판, 2013), 『The Legality and Legitimacy of the Use of Force in Northeast Asia』(Brill 출판, 2013)가 있다. 국제대학원 국제학과장과 국제개발협력연구원 부원장을 역임한 바 있으며, 현재 International Studies Review 편집장, 한국 국제정치학회 (KISA) 회장, 아시아 국제정치학회 (APISA) 이사, 외교부 명예사절단 등을 맡고 있다.
